After Mirzapur (2018), we have yet another show based on the gang wars in Uttar Pradesh. Titled Raktanchal, this MX Player original series is based on actual events from the 1980s in Purvanchal, Uttar Pradesh. It tells the story of two dreaded gangsters, Waseem Khan (Nikitin Dheer) and Vijay Singh (Kranti Prakash Jha) and how their rivalry unleashes a bloodbath on the streets of the region.

Khan is an established gangster and heads the tender mafia in the Purvanchal, but his criminal empire is threatened by another gangster called Vijay Singh. They both take the help of politicians to increase their dominance in the city. Just like most other crime web-series. the show is heavy on violence. The series also seems to be influenced by Anurag Kashyap's Gangs Of Wassepur (2012).

Directed by Ritam Srivastav, Raktanchal also stars Vikram Kochhar, Pramod Pathak, Chitranjan Tripathi, Soundarya Sharma, Ronjini Chakraborty, Basu Soni, and Krishna Bisht.

The crime series will begin streaming on MX Player from 28 May. Watch the trailer below.
