Nawazuddin Siddiqui's troubles seem to be multiplying. The actor, currently in self-quarantine at his ancestral home in Budhana, Uttar Pradesh, has now received a notice for divorce from his wife, Aaliya.
Aaliya's lawyer told the Zee News television channel that the notice had been sent to Siddiqui through WhatsApp and e-mail, and the actor is yet to respond.
The lawyer said, "We have sent a legal notice to Mr Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The notice was sent on behalf of Mrs Aaliya Siddiqui on 7 May. Due to the unprecedented COVID-19 times, the notice could not be sent through Speed Post. It has been sent through e-mail as well as WhatsApp.
"Mrs Siddiqui, our client, has also sent the notice through WhatsApp. However, Mr Siddiqui has not responded till date. I think he is just keeping quiet regarding the notice and ignoring it.
"The notice has been sent claiming maintenance and divorce. I would not like to get into the details of the notice, but let me tell you that the allegations are quite serious and those are very sensitive to Mr Siddiqui as well as his family members."
Nawazuddin and Aaliya have been married for 10 years and have two children. There were reports of problems in the marriage earlier, in 2017, when the actor's biography was published and then withdrawn.
Speaking to ABP News, another television channel, Siddiqui's wife said, "There is not one reason but several reasons for my problems with Nawaz. And all these reasons are very serious."
Siddiqui is believed to have travelled to Budhana to console his mother following the death of his younger sister.
