Director Satish Rajwade and actor Swwapnil Joshi — yes, he has gone back to the odd spelling of his first name — gave us three films in the Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai franchise. The two also collaborated on the romantic television series Eka Lagnachi Doosri Goshta and Jeevlaga. They are now back together for a web-series titled Samantar. But unlike their earlier family-orientated projects, this one will be an edgy mystery thriller.

This is what it seems from the teaser of Samantar. It shows Joshi’s character as one among millions of ordinary people in Mumbai, dressed in simple clothes. What sets him apart is that he is on a quest to find a man named Sudarshan Chakrapani. The teaser indicates that this is a do-or-die mission for him, especially given how he gets frustrated at one point.

The technical aspects play a big role in making you eagerly await the series. Although the teaser is too short, you can’t miss the creative camerawork, swift editing and thrilling background score.

Samantar is Joshi and Rajwade’s first step in the digital space. Rajwade has helmed thrillers before in the form of Gaiir (2009) and Aapla Manus (2018).

Samantar will be streamed on MX Player. The series also stars Tejaswini Pandit. The trailer of the series will be released on 9 March. Watch the teaser below.

Correction: The person whom Swwapnil Joshi's character is looking for was wrongly named in an earlier version of this report as Sudarshan Chakravani.
