Singer Kanika Kapoor's fifth sample test has also tested positive for the coronavirus infection. The sample tests are carried out on an infected patient every 48 hours to study the virus growth.

The singer is currently admitted at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow.

On Monday, the singer had posted on her Instagram, saying that she hoped her next test proves negative for the viral infection.

The singer was among the first high-profile celebrities to be diagnosed with coronavirus, which has caused a global pandemic.

The singer was embroiled in a controversy after testing positive post her arrival in India from United Kingdom. Kapoor was accused of hiding her travel history, and avoiding the mandatory 14-day quarantine after international travel.

The singer, who is currently hospitalised, has denied that she is in the ICU or critical.
