The film is director Dibakar Banerjee’s first theatrical release after Detective Byomkesh Bakshy (2015) by the same banner, Yash Raj Films.

Dibakar Banerjee’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar (2020) has been in the making since 2017. It has also been completed since long but somehow the film just wasn’t finding an auspicious occasion to release in theatres.
But now finally the makers have announced that the Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra-starrer will be releasing on 20 March.
The announcement was made through the two character posters of Kapoor and Chopra, which are more like sketches. Funnily and surprisingly, Kapoor’s character is named Pinky while Chopra is playing Sandeep.
Chopra’s poster suggests that her character is confident, headstrong and determined. Her spectacles top off her corporate look. Kapoor is seen in a police uniform which indicates that he is playing a tough cop.
Revealing more about the film, an official statement from the prodcuers Yash Raj Films said, “The film will see Arjun play the role of a Haryanvi cop, while Parineeti essays the role of an ambitious girl from the corporate world whose lives suddenly intertwine.”
Going by the title, it might be the case of Pinky arresting Sandeep and due to some reason they are forced to go on the run.
Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is Banerjee’s first theatrical film after Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015), which was with the same banner. After that he was a part of Lust Stories (2018) and Ghost Stories (2020); both were anthologies of short films which are now streaming on Netflix.
