Choreographer Brinda turns director with Dulquer Salmaan-starrer Hey Sinamika


The film will also feature Aditi Rao Hydari and Kajal Aggarwal.

Dance choreographer Brinda Gopal will turn director with the upcoming Tamil romantic comedy, Hey Sinamika, which was launched here on Thursday.

Brinda, who made her debut as an assistant choreographer in 1987 and went on to work in projects like Kaakha Kaakha (2003), Kadal (2013) and PK (2014) among others, makes her directorial debut with this Dulquer Salmaan-starrer, which will also feature Aditi Rao Hydari and Kajal Aggarwal.

“The magic of new beginnings. Starting the journey of Hey Sinamika with some lovely ladies. Aditi Rao Hydari, Kajal Aggarwal and under the guidance of my dearest Brinda master,” Dulquer tweeted.

Hydari, who is teaming up with Dulquer for the first time, tweeted that she’s “blessed to be part of this exciting film with Dulquer and Kajal Aggarwal.”

The project marks the maiden southern venture of Jio Studios in association with Global One Studio.

Actress Kushboo, who presided over as chief guest, sounded the clapperboard for the film's first shot. The launch was also graced by the presence of filmmaker Mani Ratnam and wife, Suhasini Maniratnam.

The film's music will be composed by Govind Vasantha, who shot to fame with the Tamil film 96 (2018). Preetha Jayaraman is the the cinematographer. 

Dulquer, who is basking in the success of his latest Tamil film Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal (2020), will begin shooting for Hey Sinamika immediately.
