Radhika Apte, an actress who is known for choosing offbeat roles, be it in films or web-series, has turned director with a short film titled The Sleepwalkers. The psychological thriller short features Shahana Goswami and Gulshan Devaiah as a married couple.
Apte shared the teaser of her first directorial venture on Instagram. The spooky teaser starts with a husband (Gulshan Devaiah) trying to convince his pregnant wife (Goswami) that she has been sleepwalking. Eerie visuals like Goswami walking towards a jungle with a little girl in the night and a haunting background score make it obvious that this is a psychological thriller with a dark twist.
The deliberate use of low light and blue colour tones adds to the atmospherics of the short.
In another Instagram post, Apte revealed that her film has been selected for the Palm Springs International ShortFest 2020, which is taking place online this year from 16–22 June.
Apte's The Sleepwalkers has been produced by Honey Trehan and Abhishek Chaubey’s MacGuffin Pictures, which has produced acclaimed films like A Death In The Gunj (2017), and Lalit Prem Sharma of Colosceum Media Pvt Ltd. The film will be in competition for Best Midnight Short. Unfortunately, it will not be available for viewing online just yet. For now, watch the teaser.
