Actress Madonna Sebastian, last seen on the big screen in the Tamil film Vaanam Kottattum (2020), is said to have been roped in for a pivotal role in superstar Vijay’s upcoming Tamil project, codenamed Thalapathy 65.

According to a report on the website ManoramaOnline, Madonna has been signed on for an important role. However, the makers are still on the lookout for the film's leading lady.

An official announcement regarding Thalapathy 65, which is currently in the pre-production phase, can be expected to be made on the occasion of Vijay’s birthday on 22 June.

It is not yet known who has been signed to direct Thalapathy 65, though recent reports have suggested that Sudha Kongara and AR Murugadoss have been in talks. Sources have, however, confirmed that Vijay’s immediate next project will be with Murugadoss.

Vijay and Murugadoss are all set to join hands for the fourth time. They have previously worked together on Thuppakki (2012), Kaththi (2014) and Sarkar (2018). Apparently, their next collaboration could be a sequel to Thuppakki.

Meanwhile, Vijay is awaiting the release of his film, Master (2020), which was originally slated for release in April but had to be postponed on account of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Master features Vijay as a college professor and will have a college backdrop for most of the story. It will be the first time Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi will be seen sharing screen space.

Master features Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist. Malavika Mohanan, who made her Tamil debut via Rajinikanth’s Petta (2019), plays the leading lady. The film also stars Andrea Jeremiah in a key role.

Vijay was last seen on the big screen in the Atlee-directed Bigil (2019) playing the dual roles of a father and son. Both characters were received well by the audiences.

Bigil, which also starred Jackie Shroff and Nayanthara, went on to make over Rs300 crore at the box office and become the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2019.
