The Film Employees’ Federation of South India (FEFSI) has announced in its latest circular that it will halt the shooting of television serials and all pre-production and post-production film-related work starting Friday during the complete lockdown that is being imposed in four districts.

The Tamil Nadu government has announced a complete lockdown in four districts, including Chennai, from 19 June till the end of the month. During this period, no film- and television-related work will take place in these four districts.

Last month, the Tamil Nadu government had granted permission to carry out post-production work on films and TV shows after several Tamil film producers sought permission to resume post-production work on completed movies and shows that had been stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the request from the filmmakers in the first week of May, the government had allowed the film industry to carry out post-production work such as editing, dubbing, VFX/CGI, DI (Digital Intermediary), background music score, sound effects, foley and mixing with no more than 15 people from Monday 11 May.
