Bengali television shoots finally start today; issue of medical insurance on backburner for now 


Shooting of TV serials Jai Baba Lokenath, Mohor and Kapalkundala has begun even as channels and producers fail to take care of of the Rs26 lakh medical insurance for artistes.

Shooting of Bengali television serials resumed today amidst new safety guidelines for COVID-19. Films too are supposed to go on the floors soon. The producers’ guild and artistes's forum jointly decided to resume operations after a meeting with the West Bengal minister of of public works, youth services and sports, Arup Biswas. Shooting of television series Jai Baba Lokenath, Mohor and Kapalkundala has resumed.

The representatives of the artistes’s forum protested as television channels and producers refused to take responsibility of the Rs26 lakh medical insurance for artistes. But the artistes agreed to begin shooting, stating that the matter of medical insurance could wait. 

According to a report by the news agency IANs, the members of the artistes's forum had raised certain issues to ensure health protocols and safety of every artiste as a matter of top prioriy while shooting for channels. But channel owners and tele-producers failed to give any assurance to artistes about the medical insurance premium documents on the first day of shooting.
