The name Tina Bhatia might not ring a bell. But you probably remember the character of Vijay Raaz's second wife in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy (2019). She was called Chhoti Ammi in the film starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.

Now, Tina Bhatia is set to share the screen with Ayushmann Khurrana in Shoojit Sircar's Gulabo Sitabo. “My character Dulahin stays in Fatima Mahal. Begum (Farrukh Jaffar) had brought her into the mahal [mansion] in childhood. I play a caretaker with my husband and child staying there together with them,” Bhatia said in an official statement.

Bhatia said she was thrilled when Khurrana recognized her as the character from Gully Boy. “When I met him on the set for the first time, before I could say anything he recognized me as Chhoti Ammi from Gully Boy and greeted me. I was very happy that he recognized my small role in that film,” she said.

About her experience working with Khurrana, Bhatia said, “It was great working with Ayushmann. He is very sincere and humble and doesn't make others feel like he is a big star. The best part about him is that his choice of films is phenomenal, so it feels fortunate to have got a chance to work with him.”

Directed by Shoojit Sircar, Gulabo Sitabo will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video from 12 June.
