Gully Boy to be screened at the Busan International Film Festival 

The film, directed by Zoya Akhtar, has been chosen for the Request Cinema Screening category of the festival in October.

Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy (2019) has been invited by the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea this year. Starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Siddhant Chaturvedi, the film will be screened under the ‘Request Cinema Screening’ category of the festival in October. 

The news was shared by veteran trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh on Twitter. “Update... Gully Boy invited to the prestigious Busan International Film Festival, under Request Cinema Screening category. The Festival will be held in October 2020 in South Korea,” he wrote. 

Ever since Gully Boy hit the screens in February 2019, it has received countless accolades and awards. The film has been a favourite at the International circuit as well. The movie began its festival journey with a world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival last February. 

Gully Boy was also chosen as India’s official entry for the 92nd Academy awards aka Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category, earlier known as the Best Foreign Language Film category. The movie was also selected in the Panaroma section at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). 

Last year, the film won the NETPAC award for Best Asian Film at the 23rd Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) held in South Korea. It was also honoured as Best Film at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in 2019. 

The film revolves around Muraad (Singh), who dreams of becoming a rapper against the wishes of his father. He is suported in his endeavor by his girlfriend Safeena (Bhatt) and fellow rapper MC Sher (Chaturvedi).
