Actress Swara Bhasker might be used to dealing with trolls, but being on the receiving end of an attack from a member of her own fraternity might be a new one even for her.
Dream Girl (2019) director Raaj Shaandilyaa took a swipe at the actress in a particularly distasteful manner. Swara Bhasker, however, did not take things quietly and slammed Shaandilyaa for the comment.
The director had shared a joke on his Facebook profile, which dismissed the importance given to Swara Bhasker, citing that the newspaper Dainik Bhaskar is more expensive than her.
The actress dismissed the comment and told the director to keep it in mind the next time he begs her to promote his film or offers her a role in his project.
अगली बार role offer करने और आपकी फ़िल्म के trailer को share करने की request वाले messages भेजने के पहले आप भी ‘सस्ती हरकतों’ के बारे में थोड़ा सोच लेना! :) Good luck @writerraj sir! :) :) pic.twitter.com/t3KPugshfA— Swara Bhasker (@ReallySwara) January 7, 2020
Director Hansal Mehta also criticized the manner in which the director of the Ayushmann Khurrana hit had commented on Swara Bhasker.
This is the reason there is no room for discourse or healthy debate. A lot of these RW supporters reduce everything to sledging, name-calling and abuse. https://t.co/3SikdLcRxx— Hansal Mehta (@mehtahansal) January 7, 2020
Later, however, confirmed that Shaandilyaa had taken down the post and apologized for his tasteless comment. The Dream Girl director took to Twitter to apologize to Swara Bhasker personally, and asked her to stay away from commenting on others personally.
The actress, though, was in no mood for reconciliation and pointed out that it was Shaandilyaa who had started with the low blow.
This spat comes in the wake of an increasingly visible divide between members of the Hindi film industry who support the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party government and those opposing its strong-arm tactics.
:) https://t.co/yHN7xJcfDj— Swara Bhasker (@ReallySwara) January 7, 2020
