With Good Newwz, Akshay Kumar's golden run at the box office has been extended. The film, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani, had a good second weekend too, making Rs33.50 crore nett as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Good Newwz, the directorial debut of Raj Mehta, is a comedy of errors born out of the novel concept of semen-swapping. The film got mixed reviews, but that did not deter the audience from making a beeline for the box office.
The film made an impressive Rs124.94 crore nett in the first week itself. Going by the trend, it was expected to do well on the second weekend too. What's more, the film is likely to continue to earn well even on weekdays.
The grand total of the film at the domestic box office currently stands at Rs148.44 crore nett. As per our trade sources, Good Newwz was made at a cost of around Rs70 crore. Hence, the film is already a success story.
Meanwhile, the Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg 3 slumped on its third weekend as it could collect only a meagre Rs2.50 crore nett in three days. Directed by Prabhu Deva and also starring Sonakshi Sinha and Saiee Manjrekar, the film’s total currently stands at Rs134.27 crore nett. Given that the film's cost of production was about Rs130 crore, the collection is poor, to say the least.
