Pannu shared the poster on social media and paid homage to Mithali Raj, saying, 'I have always been asked who's your favourite male cricketer but you should ask them who their favourite female cricketer is.'
The poster captures the actress in full flow as Mithali Raj, complete with the trademark sun hat that the cricketer often wore.
Considered by many to be one of the greatest batswomen to play the game, Mithali Raj is the highest run-getter in international women's cricket and the only one to have scored over 6,000 runs in One-Day Internationals.
A former captain of the Indian women's cricket team, Mithali Raj led India in two World Cup finals in 2005 and 2017.
Shabaash Mithu is being directed by Rahul Dholakia, maker of films like Parzania (2005) and Raees (2017) and was announced on the occasion of Mithali Raj's birthday in December 2019. The film is written by Priya Aven and produced by Viacom18 Studios.
