The film, directed by Nagraj Manjule, revolves around the story of a retired sports teacher trying to take the game of football to under-privileged children in India.

Amitabh Bachchan faces off with a run-down wall beyond which looms the skyline of a range of slums. The image forms the key part of the first poster from Nagraj Manjule's Jhund (2020). The film marks Manjule's first foray in Hindi cinema, and his first collaboration with Amitabh Bachchan.

The film went on the floors in December 2018, but has been continually pushed forward from its release date of 20 September 2019. Based on the life of Vijay Barse, the film will detail the story of a retired sports teacher who established the Slum Soccer program.
While the poster does not give away much about Bachchan's look or his role, the details of the football lying near the wall, and the slum looming large behind it offer a clear enough picture about the story.
The film was initially scheduled to release in theatres on 20 September 2019, but was delayed following an issue over copyright. Nandi Chinni Kumar had sent a notice to makers, T-Series, and Manjule for violating the copyright by taking up the story. Chinni Kumar claimed that he had bought the copyright for the story of Paul, a player in Barse's Slum Soccer foundation, who is also included in the story of Manjule's Jhund.
The film does not yet have a release date, but the teaser for the film is set to release tomorrow.
