The climax of Go Goa Gone (2013) had strongly hinted at the possibility of a sequel. Over the years, there has been speculation in the media about the second part of the film directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. Finally, it is official. Go Goa Gone 2 is happening and will be released next year!

Producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films told the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency, "It has been quite a journey from 2013, and I’m so excited we are back again with this crazy ride! Go Goa Gone redefined many things, and we are gunning to do that again."

He also indicated that the same set of characters played by Saif Ali Khan, Vir Das, Kunal Kemmu and Anand Tiwari will be back in the sequel. "The characters have stayed with us all this while and we are thrilled to bring them back to life," he said. "Sunil [Lulla of Eros International] and I have had a great partnership and I’m excited to be back together especially for this film. We are finishing the final draft and should roll by September 2020," added Vijan.

The news was also shared by the official Twitter page of Maddock Films along with the film's poster. “One can try, but never really escape this trip! Prepare yourself for the craziest sequel of the best ‘zom-com’ as Go Goa Gone 2 releases in March 2021!,” said the post.

In an interview in March last year, Nidimoru had told The Asian Age newspaper that all the cast members were impressed with the story of the sequel.

"Ideally, I would love to have everybody in the sequel as well," he had said. "I have met all the actors and they all loved the story and they all want to do it. It is just a matter of logistics. I would like to shoot in Goa, but there is an element in the story for which we might look elsewhere also. So, I can’t give out much right now."

In 2018, a picture of the film’s cast with Vir Das, Kunal Kemmu, Anand Tiwari and directors Raj and DK was put up on social media. Kemmu had shared the image and included the hashtag #GoGoaGone2. Although Saif Ali Khan was not in the picture, the post included his name too. The same picture was then shared by Das.
