Rinku Rajguru has played only village-based roles in her earlier films. This is the first time she will be seen in an urban setting.

Rinku Rajguru shot to fame with Nagraj Manjule's blockbuster Sairat (2016). She had played a village girl in the film. Her next project, Kaagar (2019), was also set in a village. But this time the actress will be seen in a very different avatar. Rinku Rajguru is playing a modern city dweller in her next film, Makeup.

At the music launch of the film, director Ganesh Pandit spoke about why he decided to cast Rinku Rajguru in a role that is very different from her image.

"Makeup is the story of a common girl, that's why we wanted someone who has a girl-next-door image but a very charming personality," the scriptwriter who is making his directorial debut explained. "We needed someone who can make an instant connection with the audience. The audience should feel like they know her because they have interacted with girls like her in real life. That's why we decided to cast a familiar face like Rinku Rajguru.

"Until now, Rinku has played roles of a rural girl, be it in Sairat (2016) or Kaagar (2019), but this is a completely different character. You must have guessed that from the trailer. And I must add that she had a lot of fun playing this role."

Pandit also spoke about casting Chinmay Udgirkar in the film. "I had worked with Chinmay before for the play Kuchh Meetha Ho Jaye, so I was familiar with his acting style and suggested his name to our producers, and they unanimously agreed with my decision."

Directed by Ganesh Pandit, Makeup is slated for release on 7 February 2020.
