Rishi Kapoor has been admitted to the Sir Hurkissondas Narottamdas Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai with a 'viral fever'.

The veteran actor had returned to Mumbai recently after having been discharged from a hospital in Delhi where he had been admitted for treatment of an infection.

According to a report by the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency, Kapoor was shifted to the Mumbai hospital on Tuesday, the very day the actor had put out a tweet to reassure fans of his well-being.

'Dear family, friends, foes and followers,' he wrote. 'I have been overwhelmed by all your concern about my health. Thank you. I have been filming in Delhi the past 18 days and because of the pollution and my low count of neutrophils, I caught an infection whereby I had to be hospitalized.'

The PTI report also quoted a family source as saying, "He has been admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in South Mumbai two days ago due to viral fever. He is fine and there is nothing to worry."

Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and spent more than a year in New York undergoing treatment. The recent spate of hospital visits has sent fans into a tizzy wondering if he has suffered a relapse.

Kapoor has also been signed on for the upcoming film, The Intern, alongside Deepika Padukone. The film is a remake of the Hollywood starrer of the same name with Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.
