After Remo D'Souza's Street Dancer 3D (2020), Dharmesh Yelande will be back on the big screen this Valentine's Day with his next, Safalta 0 Km (2020). The dancer-turned-actor is making his Gujarati cinema debut with the Akshay Yagnik film.
Yelande was recently in Baroda, Gujarat, for the song launch of 'Aankhon Ni Andar' from the film. He shared that fellow actor Riteish Deshmukh had guided him towards the film.
He said, "Riteish Deshmukh once suggested to me about regional films and today I am here promoting my first Gujarati film, Safalta 0 Km. The love and response is astonishing. I am still not over the affection I got at the song launch in Baroda.
"Riteish's golden words are unforgettable. He said, 'You have already done five films, but all in 'Bollywood' [mainstream Hindi cinema]. You are from Gujarat, why don't you do something there as well, the way I am still part of Marathi cinema? It's our duty to give back to our roots as well'."
Yelande said he had been searching for a script in Gujarati cinema, and Yagnik's film turned out to be the one for him. He also mentioned that while shooting for Safalta 0 Km, he got an opportunity to learn about filmmaking. It was his dream to come back to his roots, and with the growing urban Gujarati film industry, he was able to see his dream fulfilled.
Produced by Pinal Patel under the banner of RZ Entertainment, the film also stars Nikunj Modi, Dharmesh Vyas, Kurush Deboo, Uday Modi, Manisha Thakkar, Shivani Joshi, Shivani Patel, Tarun Nihilani, and Shivam Tiwari. The film's music has been composed by the duo Veeral Mistry and Laavan Gone.
Safalta 0 Km (2020) is due to be released on 14 February.
