After receiving praise recently for his act as Shivaji Maharaj in the Ajay Devgn-starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero (2020), Sharad Kelkar will now be seen in the film titled Darbaan. Directed by Bipin Nadkarni and produced under the banner of Opticus Picture Company, the film also stars Sharib Hashmi and Flora Saini.

The makers have released the first poster of the film which contains the faces of the main cast in the background. While Hashmi looks serious the other two are smiling. The foreground has a beautiful picture of a boat sailing in the blue waters of the sea.

Nothing is revealed about the story of Darbaan which is inspired by a short story by Rabindranath Tagore. Its tagline, ‘An unforgettable tale of two generations,” gives an idea that the plot will mostly be taking place across two time periods.

Hashmi was last seen earlier this year in Malala Yousafzai’s biopic Gul Makai (2020). Saini’s last appearance was in the web-series Inside Edge last year.

The film is the Hindi directorial debut for Nadkarni. It is also his comeback after more than a decade. He has made two Marathi films, Uttarayan (2004) and Aevdhese Aabhal (2007). He also played one of the supporting actors in Ketan Mehta’s Holi (1984), which starred Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker.

Darbaan will be releasing on 3 April.
