Ramesh Sharma to return with New Delhi Times sequel

The film will be written by Khalid Mohamed and explore the nexus between media and politics.

The Shashi Kapoor-led political thriller, New Delhi Times (1986) is set to get a sequel fit for our contemporary times. Ramesh Sharma, who directed the movie, will helm the sequel as well. The news was confirmed by writer Khalid Mohamed, on his social media page. 

The 1986-film featuring Kapoor, Om Puri, Sharmila Tagore, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, won the National award in 1986 for Best Film, Best Actor (Kapoor), Best Cinematographer (Subrata Mitra), Best Debut Film Director (Sharma) among others. 

The film dealt with the nexus between media and politics in the 1980s. The sequel will be written by Mohamed, who has also penned films like Mammo (1994), Sardari Begum (1996) and Zubeidaa (2001)

The lead cast of the film has not yet been finalised, and there has been no confirmation on the production as well.
