99 Songs trailer: AR Rahman’s debut as writer-producer is musically and visually stunning


The film is about one man's quest to find that a song which will change the world.

Music maestro AR Rahman has turned writer-producer with the Hindi movie 99 Songs. The film stars newcomer Ehan Bhat in the lead with actress Edilsy cast opposite him. 

The word music is synonymous with Rahman. So, one naturally expects a musical journey from him in 99 Songs. The trailer of the film fulfills all expectations. 

In fact, music is the soul of the promo and it doesn’t cease to impress you, be it the song bits or the background score. But that’s not all. The film has richly crafted visuals, specially when it comes to portraying nature. Overall, the it displays a rich production design. 

The makers seem to have deliberately not disclosed the basic plot of the film in the trailer, aiming to keep it a surprise. This is way better than revealing the entire story, which happens with most Hindi film trailers. 

From what we can make out, 99 Songs revolves around Jay (Bhat), who is passionate about music and the love of his life (Edilsy), The film traces his journey of trying to find that one song which can change the world. His quest takes him to various places around the globe. The scene where Jay is beaten up by the police indicates that the film also has a crime angle to it. 

Bhat and Edilsy appear talented from whatever we see of them. We also catch a glimpse of Manisha Koirala and Lisa Ray. 

Directed by Vishwesh Krithnamoorthy, 99 Songs will be released soon.
