Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's first appearance as Kapil and Romi Dev seems to capture some of their real-life warmth as well. Padukone takes on a new look to play Romi Dev, wife of India's first World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev, in 83 (2020), directed by Kabir Khan.
With the picture shared by Padukone on Twitter, the actress-producer wrote, 'To play a small part in a film that captures one of the most iconic moments in sporting history has been an absolute honour! 83 for me is an ode to every woman who puts her husband's dream before her own..."

The picture captures the two in their character looks in the famous Long Room at Lord's, often the venue for formal felicitations. Considering that the film is based on India's maiden cricket World Cup triumph at Lord's in 1983, the picture seems fit for a celebration.
Padukone sports a short bob hairdo with an all-black ensemble while Ranveer Singh sports an official Team India blazer, hinting at the official nature of the event.
83 features an ensemble cast that includes Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, Sahil Khattar and Jatin Sarna. The film also features Pankaj Tripathi as PR Man Singh, manager of the team during the 1983 World Cup.
The film is set for release on 10 April 2020.
