The greed for more moolah has endangered our wildlife species through the decades. The trilingual Haathi Mere Saathi looks at this issue. The film isn’t a remake of the old Rajesh Khanna starrer Haathi Mere Saathi (1971), so we wonder what was the need to give it the same name.

Going by the teaser released recently, the film stars Rana Daggubati in the role of a man who has been raised in the jungle. He considers the jungle as his home and all animals in it, including the wild elephants, as his family.

So, when the elephants are endangered by the presence of illegal hunters, it becomes his duty to protect them. Even if it means stepping out into the concrete jungle and taking the greedy baddies head on.

Daggubati seems to have gotten into the skin of his character. We only get blink-and-miss appearances of other cast members like Pulkit Samrat and Zoya Hussain. The film also stars Shriya Pilgaonkar.

The teaser also boasts of some high quality visuals of the jungle, the elephants, and even a tiger in the end.

Directed by Prabhu Solomon and produced by Eros International, Haathi Mere Saathi will be releasing on 2 April in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
