The upcoming Vicky Kaushal-starrer Bhoot: The Haunted Ship (2020) has shot several portions at Alang in Gujarat, which is Asia’s biggest ship breaking yard. The horror film had several sequences that had to be filmed inside a wrecked ship.

Director Bhanu Pratap Singh was keen to shoot it at Alang as he felt it was the perfect setting for the horror film. But getting permission to shoot at Alang became a difficult task, no film had been shot there before Bhoot.

"Our executive producer Parth Dholakia and production team had to be stationed in Bhavnagar for over a month as they convinced the authorities at the shipyard. We ran from pillar to post, and finally, got the necessary permission," the first-time director recalled. "They were clear that we could not use any flammable materials or smoke on board as it could lead to a fire."

Last April, while shooting a scene in Alang, Kaushal was injured on set. He suffered a hairline fracture of the jaw and had to get 13 stitches. The actor continued to shoot for the film despite his injury.

Bhoot: The Haunted Ship (2020), also starring Bhumi Pednerkar and Ashutosh Rana is due to be released on 21 February.
