Actor Bobby Deol worked with veteran filmmaker Prakash Jha for the first time in the upcoming MX Player series Aashram (2020). The actor, who plays an evil spiritual guru, Kashipurwaale Baba Nirala in the show, said that for him the project was a dream come true.

At an online press conference for the show, Deol said, “I was dying to work with Prakash Jha since 25 years. When he called me to his office, I was on top of the world and feeling great that finally, I am getting a chance to work with him.”

The actor said that he accepted the project instantly. “When I went to his office, I didn’t even know what the script was till he narrated the idea. When he narrated it, I was like okay, I could never have imagined myself in this character. But as an actor you keep imagining yourself playing different types of characters,” he said.

Deol believes that Jha offered him the role of the lead character, who has so many shades, because he believed in his abilities. “It’s such an interesting character. That was a moment when I realized that obviously he had faith in me, and that’s why he has called me for this role. I was like yes Prakash ji, I am on. There is no looking back now.”

The show also features Darshan Kumaar, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Parinitaa Seth, Tridha Choudhary, Aaditi Pohankar, Sachin Shroff and Anupriya Goenka.

Aashram will begin streaming on MX Player from Friday 28 August.
