Last week, director Om Raut had announced his magnum opus Adipurush with actor Prabhas. The film, which looks like an adaptation of the Ramayana, will be a larger-than-life saga where the actor will play the title role.
Raut is happy to have got Prabhas on board for his dream project. “Ever since I watched Baahubali, I was impressed by Prabhas. He is so subtle that we can relate and feel the depth of his characters. Adipurush is my dream project and dreams of a director cannot be accomplished without a team,” he said in an official statement.
Raut added, “I have Prabhas to help me translate my vision on the screen, and our producer Bhushan Kumar has been a pillar of strength and understanding with his unconditional support through this initial phase of our journey. It will be a great chance to work with both of them.”
This is Raut’s third film and second Hindi film after the superhit Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020), which starred Ajay Devgn in the title role. He made his debut as a director with the Marathi movie Lokmaya Ek Yugpurush (2015), a biopic on India’s freedom fighter and social reformer Lokmanya Tilak.
Raut said that he just can’t wait to be on the sets with Prabhas, who he said showed great interest in the subject. “While we were discussing the film, he showed a lot of enthusiasm about the storyline and has already started the prep for the same. He is meant for essaying larger-than-life roles and I am sure we as a team will deliver the best product to the audience,” he said.
Adipurush, which is produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, is a bilingual in Hindi and Telugu. The film is currently in the pre-production stage and is expected to go on the floors next year. It is scheduled to be released in 2022.
