The Taapsee Pannu-starrer Rashmi Rocket (2021) was all set to begin shooting in March but it had to be called off due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Now comes word the team will resume shooting in November.
Directed by Akarsh Khurana, known for Karwaan (2018), the film is the story of an athlete co-written by Nanda Periyasamy, Aniruddha Guha and Kanika Dhillon.
“We were all set to shoot when the pandemic struck. I’m glad that we’re resuming soon. The team and I have been waiting eagerly to set off on this journey. It’s a terrific story that I’m excited to tell,” Khurana said in an official statement.
Pannu doesn’t mind beginning where she left off. “I have been involved in this project from the very inception stage so that makes this one really special," she said. "Just before the pandemic, I was already three months into my training period to transform into a physique closest to that of a sprinter. This has been a long break but with the kind of subject it is, I am excited to restart the journey from scratch again starting with my training."
Produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Productions, Rashmi Rocket also stars Priyanshu Painyuli in the prominent role of an army officer. He has earlier worked with Khurana in High Jack (2018). He was last seen in the Hollywood movie Extraction (2020), which also starred Randeep Hooda.
Elaborating on the story, Screwvala said, “Rashmi Rocket is a story of the trials and tribulations that several female athletes face on their journey and the unmatchable resolve shown by each to eventually achieve their destiny. There could be no better actor than Taapsee to essay the role of one such athlete Rashmi. Post lockdown, we are eager and keen to be resuming shoots at RSVP and get this one on the road.”
Rashmi Rocket is due to be released in 2021.
