After the late Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh filed a first information report (FIR) against Rhea Chakraborty earlier this week alleging abetment of suicide and financial fraud, the actress knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court on Thursday, alleging that she was being falsely implicated in the case.
In her petition, Chakraborty also appealed to the court to transfer the case from Bihar, where KK Singh filed his FIR, to Mumbai, saying she apprehends that the investigation by the Bihar police will not be impartial. According to reports, the Supreme Court is likely to hear the matter on Wednesday 5 August.
Earlier yesterday, Chakraborty offered her first reaction to the complaint against her through a video shared with the media. In the video, she said, “I have immense faith in god and the judiciary. I believe that I will get justice, even though a lot of horrible things have been said about me in the electronic media. I refrain from commenting on the advice of my lawyers as the matter is sub-judice. Satyameva jayate. The truth shall prevail.”
Speaking about the charges levelled by KK Singh earlier this week, Sanjay Kumar Singh, inspector general of police, central range, Bihar, told the Hindustan Times newspaper, “KK Singh lodged the case with the Rajiv Nagar police station against Rhea Chakraborty and her family, including [father] Indrajit Chakraborty, [mother] Sandhya Chakraborty, [sister] Shruti Modi, [brother] Showik Chakraborty and others, under sections 341, 342, 380, 406, 420, 306 and 120(B) of the IPC.”
Elaborating on the charges, Sanjay Kumar Singh added, “Sushant’s father has made a serious charge against Rhea and her family. He has alleged that she had kept Sushant away from his family and in her possession. She was also handling his bank accounts. It was reported that crores of rupees were withdrawn from his accounts.”
Meanwhile, the enforcement directorate of the Union finance ministry has filed a money-laundering case against Chakraborty following the FIR filed against her by the Bihar police.
