After being cast opposite Taapsee Pannu in the sports drama Rashmi Rocket (2020) last month, Priyanshu Painyuli is looking forward to his next film which is due to be released later this month.

The actor will soon be seen in the Netflix Original film Extraction with Chris Hemsworth in the lead. Also featuring actress Golshifteh Farahani and actor David Harbor, the film also stars Indian actors Pankaj Tripathi and Randeep Hooda.

Earlier titled Dhaka, Extraction was shot in India last year. Produced by the Russo brothers Anthony and Joseph, Extraction has been directed by Sam Hargrave. In the film, Hemsworth plays a mercenary, Rake, hired to rescue the son of a gangster, played by Tripathi.

This is Painyuli’s first big international project and the actor plays a pivotal part as a Bangladeshi druglord in the film. The role is quite different from the parts he has played so far.

“It’s a very interesting story, I am playing a very special role, in a surprise package,” the actor said. “I am eagerly waiting to see myself, I haven't done anything like this before. I can't wait for people to watch this film. It's an experience I will always cherish.

“My biggest takeaway from this was the discipline of it,” he continued. “Everyone was so well-prepped and so thorough with their scenes. The research is so well-rounded that there is zero scope for errors when the actor is in front of the camera. Everything is already on the storyboard, discussed and vetted, before the scene. I have been able to inculcate a more methodical approach to work."

His Hollywood co-star, who played the Marvel superhero Thor, was a delight to be around. Painyuli said, “When you work with someone like him, you realize the value of being grounded. He is warm and kind as a colleague. He had this incredible zest to learn more and do better. The team made me so comfortable that I wanted to give of my best.”
