He might have to put up his Mjolnir in some time, but Chris Hemsworth is in no mood to let the action rest. The actor plays a mercenary who is paid a big amount to try and rescue the son of an Indian gangster held for ransom in Bangladesh. Except that the task is not as simple as it appears. Directed by Sam Hargrave, Extraction features a host of Indian actors, including Pankaj Tripathi and Randeep Hooda, and is set to be streamed on Netflix from 24 April.

The trailer begins with the sight of Hemsworth's mercenary Tyler Rake cliff-diving. His next job is a simple extraction. The son of an Indian gangster (Tripathi) has been kidnapped by his Bangladeshi adversary (Priyanshu Painyuli). Rake steps in with his team to try and extract the boy. Except that the job goes south in more ways than one. With his own emotions getting the better of him, Tyler has to decide whether he should save the boy or himself.

The trailer seems to hint at a story that is built on heavy action, with the sequences panning out quite well in the trailer. Hemsworth pulls his own weight in the sequences, but it remains to be seen if the film has the dramatic heft needed to keep the audience glued to it.

The Indian contingent in the film is led by Tripathi who plays the ageing Indian gangster while Painyuli plays his Bangladeshi rival. In addition, Hooda plays a police officer on the tail of Hemsworth's mercenary.

The film is produced by the Marvel filmmmakers, Joe and Anthony Russo, and is set to be streamed on Netflix from 24 April. Watch the trailer.
