‘Vasaichya Nakyawar’ song: Catchy Koli number that sees Siddhi Ture sing, act and dance in glee

Composed and written by Darshan Nandgaonkar, the song is ideal for Ganesh Visarjan.

In Hindi and Punjabi singles, singers doubling up as actors is a regular feature. Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah are the biggest examples. Now Siddhi Ture has tried that in Marathi with the single ‘Vasaichya Nakyawar’, where she acted, sung and danced in the music video.

The song has a strong Koli flavour. It is a typical dance number that one would have encountered over the years in the Koliwada areas of Mumbai or during the Ganesh Visarjan. This one is shot in Worli Koliwada, which has the largest population of Kolis in the city.

‘Vasaichya Nakyawar’ makes you to tap your feet right from the beginning, which is exactly the aim of such numbers. Ture’s voice has a spunky quality, which works for this song. Darshan Nandgaonkar’s music is mostly stagnant but there’s only this much one can do in such songs. However, the lyrics, which are also written by him, are catchy.

The song has nicely utilized the location of Worli Koliwada, including the impressive visual of the Worli-Bandra Sea Link. Ture has shown decent dancing skills. But in one scenario, her casual get-up does not gel well with the traditional outfits of the background dancers.

Mayuresh Wadkar plays second fiddle to Ture in the song but there is scope for improvement. He has acted in films like ABCD (2013), Machine (2017) and Smile Please (2019).
