Kangana Ranaut’s sister and manager Rangoli Chandel’s Twitter account was suspended today following a controversial tweet she posted some time back.

Chandel has been known for her inflammatory posts on social media, but this is the first time action has been taken against her.

In the tweet that got her into trouble, Chandel had called for the use of violence against members of a community and against the ‘secular’ media.

The tweet came after claims made by some members of the government and their followers that the spread of the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus disease) pandemic in India was being aided by members of the Tablighi Jamaat who had gathered at a mosque in Delhi's Nizamuddin area before the countrywide lockdown was initiated last month.

Chandel’s tweet, which is no longer available now, read, “F**k the history. They may call us Nazis. Who cares? Life is more important than fake image.”

Following this outburst, a number of Twitter users reported her tweet and also tagging the Mumbai police and urged the force to take action. While the police are yet to take action, Twitter Inc has suspended Chandel's account.

In the past, there has been some discussion on social media about whether Chandel actually puts out the tweets that go out from her handle or her sister Ranaut is the originator. Interestingly, in a recent video interview with the website pinkvilla.com, Ranaut confessed to using Chandel's handle to put out some posts. “At times I do snatch Rangoli’s phone and tweet a few things on her behalf,” the actress said.
