Popular figures from the Marathi film industry have come to the aid of all those working behind the scenes in Marathi films and theatre. They have contributed towards the welfare of the daily wage workers and are appealing to people to do the same in this period of the lockdown brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.
In a video shared by the Marathi Natakwala page on Twitter, actor Subodh Bhave, said, “Like us, even those working behind the scenes are at home. Maybe in the coming days, it will be difficult for them to sustain without work. In such a time, they will be facing financial and daily materials crunch. It is important that we should stand by them at such times by coming together in spirit, not literally.”

Bhave and others from the industry have opened a bank account, whose number he shared along with the video. “You can donate whatever you wish to this bank account. This is for people working behind the scenes in Marathi plays as well as movies and television, including booking clerks. May we look after them during the time of coronavirus and defeat the disease, is what I am praying for,” he added.
Speaking about this initiative, Swwapnil Joshi told us exclusively, “All of us are contributing in our own way. We are only giving monetary support, but these guys are actually going out in the field and giving them ration for one month. In the name of savings, they have hardly anything left. Through this initiative, we are telling them not to worry.”
Joshi is all praise for his colleagues from the industry who are making these efforts. “Big kudos to my friends Subodh, Sushant Shelar and the entire team working behind it. It is their initiative and credit needs to be given where it is due. Right now, it is not the amount that is important, it is your intention. And every drop in the ocean is going to count,” he said.
