Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, Prassthanam and The Zoya Factor have registered dismal numbers at the box office.
Box office: Dream Girl, Chhichhore continue to do well as new releases tank
Mumbai - 27 Sep 2019 17:00 IST
The three new releases of last week, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, Prassthanam and The Zoya Factor, generated poor numbers in their first four days. The numbers were shockingly low for The Zoya Factor, which made as low a collection as Rs15 lakh nett on Monday.
As expected, all three films showed abysmal earnings in the days that followed, too low in fact to even report. Hence, holdover releases Dream Girl and Chhichhore had a good time in their second and third week, respectively.
Dream Girl, the directorial debut for writer Raaj Shaandilyaa, earned an impressive Rs37.75 crore nett in its second week, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. The film's grand total of Rs107.87 crore nett is the second highest for a film starring Ayushmann Khurrana after Badhaai Ho (2018), which made a lifetime collection of Rs134.46 crore nett at the domestic box office. Dream Girl may yet overhaul that score.
Chhichhore, starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Sharma, made an impressive Rs22.65 crore nett in its third week. The film directed by Nitesh 'Dangal' Tiwari has so far made Rs128.28 crore nett.
With not a single major Hindi film being released today, Dream Girl and Chhichhore are expected to do well on this weekend as well. However, they won’t get the full week to themselves since Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s biggie War and Chiranjeevi's multilingual multi-starrer Syeraa Narasimha Reddy are being released on Wednesday, 2 October, a public holiday. But that should not bother Chhichhore and Dream Girl too much, with both films having already made it to the hit grade.
