Dream Girl (2019), the directorial debut of writer Raaj Shaandilyaa, has opened well with Rs9.50 crore on its first day, according to the figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

The film has become the biggest opening for its lead Ayushmann Khurrana. His previous highest numbers were Rs7.50 crore with last year's blockbuster hit, Badhaai Ho (2018).

The comedy has performed well in the north, making around Rs3.68 crore in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and East Punjab alone. It is expected that the number will grow over the weekend around the country.

Meanwhile, last week's release Chhichhore (2019), directed by Nitesh Tiwari, did not face much competition from Dream Girl. It took in Rs5.25 crore on its eighth day. The film's total collections grew to Rs72 crore. If it continues with this run over the weekend, it will easily reach Rs100 crore as it finishes the second week.
