Ayushmann Khurrana is having the time of his career. The actor has had as many as five back-to-back hits in the past two years — Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017), Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), Andhadhun (2018), Badhaai Ho (2018) and Article 15 (2019). What's more, all of these films are very different from one another.

The obvious question that arises is about Khurrana's script sense and how he selects his projects. This has also been the subject of much chatter on social media in recent times, especially after the trailer of his upcoming film
Dream Girl
was released.

During an interaction with the media ahead of the release of Dream Girl, Khurrana was asked how he chooses his subjects and whether he consults anyone. “I don’t take anyone’s opinion," the actor said. "I go with my gut and intuition. But yes, my wife and my manager Sunita read the script. That’s about it."

Coming to his script sense, he said, “I think I keep my basics right. One is that it has to be an absolutely fresh concept for Indian cinema. And the concept has to last for two hours. It should hold you for two hours. Many a time the concept is good but it doesn’t hold you for two hours. Third is that it should have some kind of value addition. That’s about it.”

Dream Girl stars Nushrat Bharucha opposite Khurrana. Dream Girl is writer Raaj Shaandilyaa’s directorial debut. The film will be released on Friday 13 September.
