Argha Deep Chatterjee will start shooting for his upcoming thriller Mukhosh, starring Payel Sarkar and Rajatava Datta, tomorrow, 2 September. Chatterjee made his directorial debuted with the crime thriller Jojo (2018). His next project, Rhododendron (2019), a psychological thriller, is yet to be released. Sarkar played a crucial role in Rhododendron as well.

Mukhosh, a whodunnit, will also feature Prantik Banerjee, Santilal Mukherjee and actress Amrita, who makes her debut, in crucial roles. The film will be shot by Modhura Palit, winner of the prestigious Pierre Angenieux Excelens in Cinematography award at the 72nd Cannes International Film Festival in May this year, and edited by Anirban Maity.

In the film, Amrita lodges a complaint about her missing older sister with a police inspector, played by Santilal Mukherjee. She thinks her brother-in-law, played by Rajatava Datta, is behind her sister's disappearance.

Datta plays an influential figure with political connections and the incident takes place at a crucial moment in his career. However, despite the influence of Datta's character, the inspector agrees to help Amrita out. Prantik Banerjee’s character also comes to her aid.

Sarkar plays Datta’s love interest in the film and her character is filled with grey shades. According to a report in Ei Samay newspaper, Sarkar's primary reason in agreeing to do the film was because the script places her character at the centre of the plot. Also, she believes her character will let her explore her potential as an actress.

Chatterjee told the paper that while working on Rhododendron, he got acquainted with Sarkar’s ability to adapt herself into different shades of characters and so, while writing the script for Mukhosh, he could not imagine any other actress playing the all-important role.
