Adil Hussain joins Indian artistes Persis Khambatta and Vijay Amritraj who have been part of the iconic Star Trek franchise. The actor has been revealed as the latest addition to the third season of the ongoing series, Star Trek: Discovery, in the teaser released at the New York Comic Con on Saturday.

The actor was previously part of another Hollywood blockbuster Life of Pi (2012) alongside Irrfan Khan.

In the latest teaser for the upcoming season of the Star Trek: Discovery series, Hussain arrives as the man in the future waiting for the crew of the starship who have dropped through a wormhole 930 years into the future. As the crew battles situations to find a way back in time, they also find ways to fix the future that has gone wrong.

Hussain is the latest Indian to join the Star Trek series, with Persis Khambatta being the most famous name. Khambatta played lieutenand Illia in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979). Former tennis player Vijay Amritraj also appeared briefly in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), directed by Leonard Nimoy, as a starship captain.

Hussain will be joined by the returning cast of Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, David Ajala and Michelle Yeoh. The new season will premiere in 2020 on CBS.
