Earlier this year, Sai Tamhankar starred in Upendra Sidhaye’s urban film Girlfriend (2019), which also featured Amey Wagh. Now she is back with another contemporary saga in Gajendra Ahire’s Kulkarni Chaukatla Deshpande (2019), though the title may not sound like one.

Tamhankar plays a single mother who has separated from husband Avinash Deshpande (Nikhil Ratnaparkhi). She seems to be managing well enough, but she misses a man in her life. She comes across a single father (Rajesh Shringarpure) who has a son and they develop a bond.

The two single parents fall in love and decide to marry. The four of them go on a trip so that their kids get to know each other and start bonding as brothers.

Gajendra Ahire has selected an interesting subject which is likely to resonate with an urban audience. Going by the storyline, the film appears promising. The trailer sees Tamhankar's character mouth double-meaning dialogues. Its importance might be made clear in the movie.

The trailer's cut is haphazard, however. Three songs appear out of nowhere (including one featuring Ahire himself) which makes it difficult to concentrate on the plot.

Tamhankar looks in good form. Shringarpure appears in a mainstream film after a long time. The trailer doesn’t give Ratnaparkhi much footage, probably intentionally.

Kulkarni Chaukatla Deshpande will be released on 22 November. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
