Featuring Rituparna Sengupta in double roles, Reshmi Mitra’s film Lime N Light narrates the journey of an underdog with a twist.
Archana Saha (Sengupta) is a simple girl, and has the responsibility of earning bread for her family. She is passionate about acting and is seen as a struggling actress in various projects. However, she gets regularly bullied and manipulated on the sets due to stammering and a less than glamorous appearance.
Her time changes when, when her lookalike superstar Srimoyee Sen (Sengupta again) helps her get a makeover and asks her to masquerade as Srimoyee for one year, as she turns into a recluse. Archana, with a new lease of life, keeps winning cards in her ascending career until her success creates problem for Srimoyee.
The trailer doesn’t reveal what exactly creates rift between the two; however, their conflict turns into public interest and both of them are taken to the court.
Though the trailer reveals that one of them eventually commits suicide, it still manages to retain certain mystery regarding the intention of both Srimoyee and Archana till the end. While Archana, despite relishing success, continues to be manipulated, Srimoyee cannot accept Archana’s success overshadowing hers.
The look of the film is not very intriguing, but Sengupta’s turn in two avatars generates interest. Moreover, Lime N Light is also vocalist Anwesha Bhattacharya’s debut as a music director and lyricist. From a few glimpses, it appears that she has attempted to incorporate various genres of songs in the film.
