Viineet Kumar had two films at the recently concluded 21st Mumbai Film Festival. While Saand Ki Aankh closed the festival, the actor has a leading role in Suman Ghosh's Aadhaar (2019). He plays a simple potter from a village who becomes the poster boy for the Aadhaar card in Jharkhand.
After the film's screening at the festival, Singh revealed how he prepared for the role. “I learnt pottery and met a lot of people from where I picked up a lot of elements,” he said. The film, produced by Drishyam Studios and Jio Studios, is due to be released on 9 December.
There is a moment in Aadhaar where he runs in an unusual way. The actor said that this was inspired from a real person. “Six-seven months before the shoot, I once saw a lot of people running in a village. My eyes fell on one person who was running in the same way. I felt this was interesting. I picked it up from there. So, I would like to thank that person for this,” Kumar said.
The actor came into limelight after Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz (2018). The film saw him essay the role of a boxer who is pitted against powerful forces.
Kumar added that he believes in doing films that give a message or portray a certain reality of the society. “Cinema is a very strong medium. It’s not just about entertainment, entertainment, entertainment. Along with entertainment, we should also include things we feel around us,” he added.
Kumar also plays an important part of a shooting coach in Saand Ki Aankh (2019) which will released on 25 October.
