With its inspirational story, Saand Ki Aankh (2019) is likely to spur quite a few girls to take up the sport of shooting. The story of Chandro and Prakashi Tomar has as much joy as it has inspiration. Nowhere is this more evident than in Vishal Mishra's latest composition, 'Baby Gold'. The song captures the carefree, joyous life that drove the determined sisters-in-law to the peak of their prowess.
The song begins with a feast held in the honour of the achievement of the two Tomar sisters-in-law. While they look on awkwardly in their rustic appearance, they are honoured by a gathering of sophisticated socialites. But the two truly come into their own when partying back in their village. From setting up an earthen pot disco light to using their phones as flashing mirrors, they throw quite a party in their own style.
The visuals of the song also capture the long journey of the two women, and how they, in turn, inspire more young girls from the village to take up sporting.
The composition from Vishal Mishra is delightful. Beginning with an infectious riff, the composition mixes the western guitar with the Indian beats to bring home a mischievous joy. It manages to convey the impression of these women breaking free, away from the prying eyes of men.
Sona Mohapatra and Jyotica Tangri deliver the lyrics by Raj Shekhar with delight. The two singers have the right nuance and control that adds a touch of realism to the English-Hindi words. Raj Shekhar also does a good job through his lyrics that are irreverent and joyful.
Saand Ki Aankh is set to release in theatres on 25 October. Watch the song below, and let us know if you are keen on watching the film.
