Housefull 4's 'The Bhoot Song': Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the wacky ghostbuster in this funny song

Composed by Farhad Samji and Sandeep Shirodkar, the song has the voices of Mika Singh and Samji.

There used to be a time when item numbers were limited to women. With complaints of propriety and objectification rising, this might be the way to go.

In Housefull 4 (2019), Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the draw as he makes his appearance as an exorcist playing a 'Sacred Game' in this wacky, ridiculous Farhad Samji composition.

The song begins with the whole gang trying to cure Akshay Kumar's Harry of the ghost from his ancient past. Enter Nawazuddin Siddiqui in his weird, zoned out appearance as the ghostbuster Ramsey Baba.

The actor definitely enjoys playing the joker, and plays to the gallery with his over the top expressions and actions. With a few references to his popular Sacred Games character (Kabhi kabhi to lagta hai ke apunich bhagwan hai[Sometimes I think I am god]) or drinking Dracula's blood, the song definitely has enough moments of cringe or laughter (as you see fit).

As for the composition, there is little to boast about for Farhad Samji and Sandeep Shirodkar. The style and the tempo, while expressing high frenzied energy feels like a template. This is further affected by the ridiculous lyrics by Samji.

While it is understandable that the makers are suspending belief with this song, but there is a point after which it becomes difficult to bear. In addition to the sight of Johnny Lever making a return to the1980s in his drag outfit, and Akshay Kumar thrashing around make it more awkward.

Mika Singh does his bit as the singer driving the song on. His voice brings on the familar quality of enthusiasm, but is unable to get you pumped up for this composition.

In all, while it is fairly hilarious, it is not a song that might top the playlist.

Housefull 4 is due to be released on 25 October. Watch the song below, and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
