Ayushmann Khurrana's midas touch at the box office seems set to continue with his latest film, Bala, managing a good opening. The film turned in Rs9.75 crore nett at the counters, according to numbers from BoxOfficeIndia.com. This is along the lines of Khurrana's previous release, Dream Girl, which had opened with Rs9.50 crore nett.

The numbers also mean that Bala has recorded Khurrana's best opening for a Friday release. That record was also held by Dream Girl and just seems to emphasize the actor's growing currency among audiences.

Bala's opening collection also puts it 13th on the list of openings this year, slightly ahead of films like Uri: The Surgical  Strike (Rs8.49 crore) and Dream Girl (Rs9.50 crore) and behind Student Of The Year 2 (Rs11.21 crore) and Super 30 (Rs11.77 crore).

According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, the film has had a wider release and might seek to replicate the success of Dream Girl. This is not wrong, with the film reportedly doing very well in Uttar Pradesh, and the metro regions of Delhi and Mumbai.

The other film in theatres this weekend, Satellite Shankar, failed to make any impact, making just about Rs10 lakh on its opening day.
