The motion poster of actor Rajinikanth’s Darbar, directed by AR Murugadoss, was unveiled on Thursday in four languages. The video introduces the 68-year-old superstar as a sword-wielding cop and he means no nonsense.

The video opens with the camera zoomed in on a foot stomping on a piece of glass and the shards flying all over. You can see fire burning in one corner of the frame, symbolically indicating that you don’t mess with the man in the frame.

Cut to the next shot and you get a better view of the foot. It belongs to someone who is wearing a police uniform with a blazer on top. The focus is on the police boot and belt.

The next shot freezes briefly on the cop’s name badge, which reads Aaditya Arunasalam. Before you can blink, you see a sword being swung at a group of henchmen and the man’s face is almost revealed.

The next shot reveals Rajinikanth’s face and as the camera zooms out, you see that he is seated in a chair, cross-legged, sword in hand.

Darbar marks the return of Rajinikanth as a police officer after 25 years. The film, which is confirmed to hit the screens next year during Diwali, also features Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar and Yogi Babu in crucial roles.

It was recently revealed that Darbar, produced by Lyca Productions, will be dubbed and released in Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam as well.

The film, which has music by Anirudh Ravichander, marks the maiden collaboration of Rajinikanth and Murugadoss. In a recent interview, the Akira (2016) director revealed that audiences can look forward to seeing Rajinikanth in his most charismatic avatar yet in Darbar.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is getting ready to commence work on his next as-yet-untitled Tamil project with director Siva. Dubbed Thalaivar 168, the film marks the maiden collaboration of the veteran with Siva.
