Good Newwz song ‘Chandigarh Mein’: Akshay, Kareena, Diljit, Kiara dream of a new house

The song from the Dharma Productions film directed by Raj Mehta is a groovy party number.

In the song ‘Aankh Maare’ from Simmba (2018), producer Karan Johar mocked himself by popping up briefly to exclaim, “Oh god! One more remix?” Now, in the song ‘Chandigarh Mein’ from his production Good Newwz, Johar pops up again, this time to exclaim, “Oh my god, this is original!”

While Johar's cameo is just a humorous one, his reaction can be taken seriously because music composer Tanishk Bagchi has become a poster boy for remixes of old hits in new Hindi movies.

‘Chandigarh Mein’ is a typical disco or party song where the four main artistes — Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani — shake some serious leg with a host of extras. The production value is rich and colourful and indicates that the makers have spent a bomb to shoot the song.

Bagchi and Badshah’s lyrics are passable. But then no one expect such songs to have great lyrics. It’s all about beats that force you to get up and dance, and those are aplenty here. Badshah, Lisa Mishra, Harrdy Sandhu and Asees Kaur, singing for the four lead artistes, have all done a decent job.

Directed by Raj Mehta, Good Newwz will be released on 27 December. Watch the song 'Chandigarh Mein' below and let us know if you would be watching the film.
