Get ready to start the new year on a spooky note. At least that is what RSVP Movies seems to wish for, as it will be releasing its anthology Ghost Stories at midnight on 31 December 2019. The production house, founded by Ronnie Screwvala, made the announcement today.

“Something spooky is coming your way. The clock will strike 12 and begin a new day. But your screams won’t fade away,” the official Twitter handle of RSVP Movies said.

Ghost Stories contains four short films directed by Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee. The anthology will be released on the streaming platform Netflix.

The makers also shared a video in which all four directors are speaking about their scary experience of shooting the film in the hope that it would scare the audience well.

This is the third time Johar, Kashyap, Akhtar and Banerjee have joined hands for an anthology of four short films after Bombay Talkies (2013) and Lust Stories (2018).

Recently, at the 10th Jagran Film Festival in Mumbai, Johar spoke humorously of the story he has directed for the anthology. “The first thing I told them was that my ghost story will not be scary. It will probably be a ghost story. I will try to just do that because I don’t think I can scare people. I mean, I can scare some people who see some of my movies, but not in the way we imagined,” he laughed.
