Vicky Velingkar song ‘Tikiti Tok’: Avadhoot Gupte narrates Sonalee Kulkarni’s situation

When a film is a thriller in which the protagonist is forced into a race against time, chances are the theme song would revolve around him or her. That is exactly how 'Tikiti Tok', the theme song of director Saurabh Verma’s Marathi movie Vicky Velingkar, is structured.

Avadhoot Gupte, a well-known name in the world of music, has been roped in for the song.

Vicky Velingkar sees Sonalee Kulkarni play the titular character, a comic artist and clock seller. She is faced with a do-or-die situation when she is pitted against a villain called Mask Man. ‘Tikiti Tok’ describes her situation and encourages her to emerge victorious in her mission.

Gupte is a reliable singer of contemporary numbers and his energetic vocals are on display here too. Composer Omkar Patil’s music isn’t extraordinary, but it suits the brief. The problem, however, is with Sumit Tambe’s lyrics which just don’t create enough excitement for a long-lasting impact.

The video shows visuals of Gupte and others recording the song intercut with animated visuals of Kulkarni. The latter should have been avoided as the visuals are plain tacky. Visuals from the film’s teaser might have worked better.

Also starring Spruha Joshi and Sangram Samel, Vicky Velingkar will be released on 6 December. Watch the song below and let us know if you are keen to watch this film.
